This was surprisingly good! The tag line of combining ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN with SILENCE OF THE LAMBS had me hooked。 If you love dogs。。。 there's some graphic stuff, so beware。 This was surprisingly good! Don’t let the cute art fool because this story an episode of Robot Chicken and will have you saying, Well that took a dark turn。 Stray Dogs is a sad horror story about some very loyal dogs。 The best way I can describe it is Finding Nemo meets Ted Buddy。 I couldn’t put it down as I had to know what was going on。 I don’t want to spoil anything but major content warnings because this is a horror story。 The ending was just what I wanted。

Nay Keppler

One of the most creative and unique GNs I’ve read in a while。

Legitimately horrifying and, perhaps most impressively, something that feels new。 Fleecs and Forstner have undermined the talking animals genre with a story that is truly disturbing for the contrast to the visual style。 My favourite scary read of Halloween 2021, even if - and maybe because - it left me wanting more。

Anubhav

Instant classic。

I made the mistake of going into this book without reading the summary。 My two small dogs in plain view the whole time。 When I gasped audibly and cringed in horror their concerned lil faces made the experience worse。 Story:Great suspense building, good perspective。 Simple, but the art does most of the talking。Art:Very Disney adjacent aesthetic。 This made the subject matter even more horrific。 Good horror read, but ultimately traumatic for this dog lover。 I am not sure a reread is in my future, b I made the mistake of going into this book without reading the summary。 My two small dogs in plain view the whole time。 When I gasped audibly and cringed in horror their concerned lil faces made the experience worse。 Story:Great suspense building, good perspective。 Simple, but the art does most of the talking。Art:Very Disney adjacent aesthetic。 This made the subject matter even more horrific。 Good horror read, but ultimately traumatic for this dog lover。 I am not sure a reread is in my future, but I give the author 4 stars for the buildup and little ray of hope。 。。。more

Brilliant stuff! Read in one sitting, I could not put it down, it drew you in right from the start and built up the tension masterfully until it's excellent conclusion。 Brilliant stuff! I love what a creative, chilling concept it is to combine an Oliver and Company illustration style with a serial killer plot from a pet POV。 A group of rescue dogs slowly piece together their suspicions that their owner may not be the loving master they think he is, but their spotty short term memory as dogs means it’s a constant struggle to not revert to happy-go-lucky amnesiacs。 I appreciate how the tone shifts smoothly between eerie dread, active terror, and the typical easygoing playfulness I love what a creative, chilling concept it is to combine an Oliver and Company illustration style with a serial killer plot from a pet POV。 A group of rescue dogs slowly piece together their suspicions that their owner may not be the loving master they think he is, but their spotty short term memory as dogs means it’s a constant struggle to not revert to happy-go-lucky amnesiacs。 I appreciate how the tone shifts smoothly between eerie dread, active terror, and the typical easygoing playfulness of a household pet。 The drawing and coloring are simple but still mostly attractive, much like the less sophisticated looking kids movies it borrows the style of。 I love the variant covers collected in the back pages that homage famous horror movie posters。 。。。more

When Sophie is brought into her new home, she is scared of all the other dogs--and can't remember what happened to her。 Where did she come from--and how did "The Master" find her? As Sophie and the other stray dogs gradually remember their former lives and what happened to bring them to "The Master's" house, the suspense ratchets up。 Great horror story。 When Sophie is brought into her new home, she is scared of all the other dogs--and can't remember what happened to her。 Where did she come from--and how did "The Master" find her? Difficult to read a horror story where the main characters are dogs。 I cringed, got pissed off and shed a tear。

I realize I may be a monster for only giving this 3 stars。 I think once the idea of it set in within 2 episodes, it didn't have much to surprise。 I could've stood for a few more issues, longer tension wondering if the dogs were going to get away/ I realize I may be a monster for only giving this 3 stars。 I think once the idea of it set in within 2 episodes, it didn't have much to surprise。 I could've stood for a few more issues, longer tension wondering if the dogs were going to get away/ 。。。more

So suspenseful and I couldn’t put it down。 At first I laughed when I saw this book under the Horror genre。 ‘How scary can it be? It’s about dogs!’ Man I was wrong。 I’m not sure I like horror books, but if I did, this would be at the top of my list。I’m not intently sure about my rating for this book。 It’s really scary and I’m not sure if I love it or hate it。 I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 15 and loves horror (it has a few really gory scenes and it involves some pretty dark topics (murder))。 。。。more

This book came HIGHLY recommended and didn't disappoint。 Very fun little story that is a bit of a page-turner。 It is short enough that it can be read in an hour。 The artwork is deceptively child-friendly when in reality the book has profanity and violence。 That juxtaposition summarizes the innocence of the protagonist with the horror of the situation。 I won't give any spoilers, but I recommend this one and will be reading it again soon! Beautiful Disney style artwork with an absolutely horrific plot。 zI read the blurb, so I knew what I was getting into, but it was a little more gruesome that I expected。 Content warnings for animal abuse, murder, on-page gore。

Short, one-and-done, serial killer thriller story, as seen through the eyes of dogs, drawn in the style of 90s Disney - unique! The concept delivers pretty well, but the story itself is not particularly original beyond that, and you can see clearly where it's headed from the first chapters。 Still, I liked it enough as a novelty。 Would recommend as a quick, interesting read! Very much in the same style as a Don Bluth movie, but even more traumatic。 It's always difficult for me to rate/review something that makes me cry because it's obviously not a great feeling, but this was a good little series。 I'm just particularly sensitive to anything with animals。Individual issue reviews: #1 | #2 | #3 | #4 | #5Total review score: 3。05 Very much in the same style as a Don Bluth movie, but even more traumatic。 It's always difficult for me to rate/review something that makes me cry because it's obviously not a great feeling, but this was a good little series。 I'm just particularly sensitive to anything with animals。Individual issue reviews: #1 | #2 | #3 | #4 | #5Total review score: 3。05 。。。more

I was judging this book by its cover and didn't think I would like it, but I was pleasantly surprised (after I got over how the dogs acted TOO human-like)。 Decent suspense that at the same time isn't too bad because the main characters are dogs instead of humans?I don't understand why all the dogs are made to forget though。 At first I thought the master was the vet and this is all his doing。 Also unclear: It is implied that Sophie had met Rusty before, but what messed up circumstances were they I was judging this book by its cover and didn't think I would like it, but I was pleasantly surprised (after I got over how the dogs acted TOO human-like)。 Decent suspense that at the same time isn't too bad because the main characters are dogs instead of humans?I don't understand why all the dogs are made to forget though。 At first I thought the master was the vet and this is all his doing。 Also unclear: It is implied that Sophie had met Rusty before, but what messed up circumstances were they in BEFORE? 。。。more

I've seen this around a lot but had never actually picked it up。 I found a copy through my library knowing nothing more than "serial collects his victims' dogs" and WOW, I got a haunting story。 There is one particular part that literally made my jaw drop, and I had to look away for a minute。 Amazing artwork, a horrifying story, not for the faint of heart (if animal deaths bother you to the point you can't continue a story, this is not for you)。 I'm so glad I picked this up, though。 Wow。 I've seen this around a lot but had never actually picked it up。 I found a copy through my library knowing nothing more than "serial collects his victims' dogs" and WOW, I got a haunting story。 There is one particular part that literally made my jaw drop, and I had to look away for a minute。 Amazing artwork, a horrifying story, not for the faint of heart (if animal deaths bother you to the point you can't continue a story, this is not for you)。 I'm so glad I picked this up, though。 Wow。 。。。more

4。25 stars。 Man what a ride。 There is this small dog, Sophie, who goes to the vet for a shot。 Next thing you, she wakes up at a new house around all these other dogs。 She can’t remember anything。 The other dogs give her the tour or the house。 She is nervous and shaking so the “master” gives her a scarf。 However, it’s her owners scarf and upon smelling it, she remembers……she was taken!!! Fleecs does a great job building up the suspense and having me on the edge of my seat worrying about all these 4。25 stars。 Man what a ride。 There is this small dog, Sophie, who goes to the vet for a shot。 Next thing you, she wakes up at a new house around all these other dogs。 She can’t remember anything。 The other dogs give her the tour or the house。 She is nervous and shaking so the “master” gives her a scarf。 However, it’s her owners scarf and upon smelling it, she remembers……she was taken!!!
